FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2005--Courion(R) Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise provisioning solutions, today announced key findings from a poll that asked customers to identify and rank their top information security concerns, challenges and issues. Seventy-eight percent of the customers polled listed their top security concern as unauthorized system access, followed closely by theft of intellectual property.
According to the Federal Trade Commission, 3.2 million citizens are victims of identity theft annually, costing businesses more than $50 billion to date. The fear of corporate data being stolen or accidentally leaked by insiders are top concerns for many companies. Almost all of the customers polled have been victims of a security incident, but most reported that external threats were more of a concern than internal threats from employees.
Poll results also indicated regulatory compliance initiatives occupy center stage in IT and security projects and enterprise provisioning plays a decisive role in helping customers to implement regulations. Respondents listed several additional benefits of implementing enterprise provisioning solutions beyond regulatory compliance including efficient password management, enhanced security and reduced administration costs.
"Identity is fast becoming the foundation for IT operations, representing the actual link to business initiatives and processes," said Chris Zannetos, president and CEO of Courion. "Companies are implementing enterprise provisioning because it allows them to more easily manage all the identities and access rights of their users. By managing all user access to protected information, and by being able to formally document and validate those controls, a company can more easily meet compliance requirements."
